                                                                           WHEY PROTEIN

Whey protein – At present, losing unwanted body weight is quite difficult. Many of us, due to the current circumstances, are not in the mood either to exercise or to take part in any other activity. In addition, poor weather conditions that force us to stay at home make weight gain even easier.

Protein is a strong ally that contributes to weight loss and weight management. Its benefits lead to increased muscle tissue, reduced various muscular pains, and support for a strong immune system.

Let us therefore learn how protein affects our body:

  1. Hormonal effect

Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a hormone that acts as an appetite regulator. Many studies have shown that CCK is the main hormone responsible for the feeling of fullness or satisfaction caused after eating. Therefore, it contributes significantly to appetite control. Experiments on the effects of whey protein and casein produced the following conclusions. The group consuming whey protein was found to have a noticeably lower daily calorie intake than the group consuming a casein drink. Higher levels of satiety and satisfaction were also recorded compared with participants consuming casein.

  1. 2. Whey protein contributes to increased insulin sensitivity

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. It regulates the metabolism and transport of carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins and lipids, and facilitates glucose uptake by adipose tissue and skeletal muscles. Insulin sensitivity refers to how our cells respond to insulin. By reducing insulin resistance, you also reduce the risk of many diseases, including diabetes. In another experiment, whey protein was compared with beef consumption. The results showed that whey protein significantly increased insulin sensitivity, unlike meat. In addition, it reduced plasma insulin levels by 40%. In conclusion, its powerful effect makes it an ideal protein source for regulating body weight and blood sugar levels.

3. Whey protein has a higher BCAA amino acid content

Whey protein isolate is considered the richest source of essential branched-chain amino acids, (see related article). In a study involving non-diabetic men and women from various countries, BCAA amino acid consumption was increased. Once again, the results showed a reduced risk of weight gain.

SUMMARY:

Muscle tissue repair, anti-inflammatory properties and immune system support make whey protein a key part of our diet. The essential amino acids it provides to our body release useful components that protect us from unwanted foreign bodies, (viruses), and even cancer.

ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR SUPPORTING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM:

As part of a balanced diet, we should support our body with a complete profile of vitamins, antioxidant substances and trace elements. The best-known antioxidants are vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene and selenium. When someone does not meet the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables, or does not have variety in their diet, they can supplement the nutrients they lack through a good multivitamin.

Regular exercise: Physical exercise offers important benefits for our health, including the prevention of various diseases. It increases the number of white blood cells, which are on the front line of defence, helps the circulatory system function properly, and has been associated with increased production of endorphins, hormones that increase the feeling of wellbeing. Continue exercising and maintain good hygiene practices in order to avoid possible infections and inflammatory effects caused by foreign microorganisms.
